Navracsics: Serbia is EU's main partner in region

TANJUG_maliBELGRADE – Serbia is the main partner of the EU in the Western Balkans, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics said on Monday, at a meeting with Serbian Minister without portfolio responsible for European integration Jadranka Joksimovic.

Joksimovic stressed that Serbia is very active in the EU science program Horizon 2020, and in the program for education, training, youth and sport Erasmus +, the minister’s office said in a release.

Serbia is committed to promoting exchange and cooperation between young people in the region as part of the Berlin Process, said Joksimovic, adding that she expects the student exchange between Serbia and the EU to intensify in the future.

The two officials agreed that, in the times of economic crisis, mutual cooperation in culture, education and sports, as well as building cooperation between youth organizations, plays a significant role in the EU’s foreign policy as well, as it contributes to forging stronger ties between countries.
