Statement on the protests in Podgorica

Podgorica

PODGORICA – The Delegation of the European Union expresses concern over the clashes that erupted during

the demonstrations in Podgorica on 24 October 2015, which resulted in injuries of police officers, journalists and other persons as well as in damage to property. We expect all competent authorities to investigate all incidents efficiently in accordance with the rule of law.

While demonstrations are a legitimate and legal way of expressing political and other views, they should be peaceful and respect the law.

The Delegation of the European Union urges all political parties to re-engage in a constructive dialogue within the Parliament which is the key forum for political debate.
