McAllister welcomes Bundestag’s decision on chapter opening

David McAllister

BRUSSELS – EP Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister welcomed the decision by the German Bundestag’s Committee on the Affairs of the European Union to give the green light for opening the first two chapters in Serbia’s EU accession talks, stressing that the Committee’s recommendation is a proof of its consistency.

I welcome the Committee’s decision made at Friday’s extraordinary session. Bundestag has always emphasized that normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina is particularly important for Serbia’s EU pathway, he told Tanjug.

McAllister said that following the latest agreements on the Community of Serb municipalities, energy and telecommunications, as well as the bridge in Mitrovica, Bundestag’s recommendation comes as consistent.
