Brussles: Not participating in Parliamentary Activities Prevents the Democratic Process

meta_maliBRUSSELS – The European Commission today said that participation in parliamentary work is key to the development of European democracy and reminded that the Pržino Agreement is the best way for the country to emerge from the current crisis.

“Parliaments are key institutions in European democracies. Not attending parliamentary activities prevents the democratic functioning of this institution and does not ensure greater checks and balances”,European Commission spokeswoman, Maja Kocijancic told “Meta”.

Regarding President Ivanov’s speech, who said that the SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, is the only pardoned politician in the country, Kocijancic said that the EC does not comment on individual cases.

“On pardons – The Commission does not comment on individual cases. The Commission noted the decision of President Ivanov to finally rescind all pardons relating to the intercepted communications. This should allow justice to again run its course and the Special Prosecutor to continue her important work”, said Kocijancic.
