Hoxhaj and Mogherini sign the agreement for access to EU programmes, many opportunities for Kosovo

BRUSSELS – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, met today the High Representative for EU Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini. They signed the agreement for access of Kosovo to EU programmes.

The agreement signed today for access of Kosovo to EU programmes between the Minister Hoxhaj and representative Mogherini is the second contractual agreement following the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Kosovo and EU.

Minister Hoxhaj stated that the signature of this agreement is an extremely important step because with this agreement Kosovo will benefit access to specific programmes and projects where private sector, public sector, civil society, academic institutions and citizens of Kosovo would apply.

“The signature of this agreement is an extremely important step as it enables private and public sector, civil society, academic institutions, as well as citizens of Kosovo to compete for funds and projects within the programmes. Programmes have different scopes, as research and innovation, energy and transport, health, culture, education, sport, youth, development of entrepreneurship and competition, environmental protection, employment, social policies and many other fields,” stated Hoxhaj.

Republic of Kosovo has continuously expressed the interest to participate in these programmes and European Commission provided for the first time in 2009 the recommendation to consider the opportunity for Framework Agreement with Kosovo.
