EPP: We hope that Croatia and Serbia will solve their problems

TANJUG_maliZAGREB – The Vice President of the European People’s Party Dara Murphy said yesterday that he hopes Croatia and Serbia will work to improve mutual relations.

Commenting the deterioration of relations between these two countries, after Croatia blocked Serbia in the opening of chapter 26 of the acquis, he told to the N1 television that it is in everyone’s interest that all the Balkan countries which are not yet in the EU progress in the accession process.

“Relations between Serbia and Croatia eventually progressed. We are aware that these two countries have unresolved problems and different opinions on certain issues. We hope that they will continue to work to resolve these disagreements and differences”, said Murphy.

He did not want to comment on which country is in the right, but he supported Croatia and Serbia in improving their relations.

“We hope that Croatia and Serbia continue to work on improving relations and indeed don’t doubt in their success”, he stated.

He added that although the EPP can not comment on who is right, they can point out that the greatest strength of EU member states and countries that wish to join the EU lies in the fact that they can discuss problems and solve them in a friendly way.
