Hahn: No negotiations on the rule of law, it must be applied without exceptions

meta_maliBRUSSELS – The European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn during his speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe warned candidate countries for membership in the European Union that there are “no negotiations on the rule of law, because it must be applied without exceptions”, reports META news agency.

When asked about the political situation in Macedonia after the early parliamentary elections, Hahn expressed hope that a new government will be formed soon and that the country will be able to commence the negotiations for a membership, said META.

“I hope that the new government will be formed soon and it will be supported by the majority in order to carry on opening European perspectives for the country and so we can start the membership negotiations as soon as possible and open the chapters for negotiations one by one. But for that to happen certain conditions will have to be fulfilled. That will be possible only If there is a wide parliamentary majority that will support the government of this country. Only then the necessary measures can be made”, said Hahn in his speech.
