TIRANA – Gianni Pittella, president of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D Group) in the European Parliament, told Albanian public broadcaster on Tuesday that Albania deserves the attention of Europe, ATA news agency reported.
“I know the progress report of my colleague, MEP Knut Fleckenstein, is quite good and describes that the ongoing efforts are on the right path, in terms of government and parliament and the existing report encourages further progress,” president of S&D Group Ganni Pittella told Albanian Radio-Television.
He also added that “Albania has made great efforts over the years to deserve the attention of Europe and the candidate status”, ATA reported
“I think the future of Albania is Europe and that all sides, both the government and the opposition must be concentrated to perform their duties in order that these aspiration of Albanian people could be pursued, consolidated and implemented over the years to come,” Pitella said.
