Serbia-EU intergovernmental conference scheduled for Feb 27

TANJUG_maliBRUSSELS – The next Serbia-EU intergovernmental conference will be held in Brussels on Monday, February 27, the Maltese EU Presidency officially confirmed to Serbian news agency Tanjug.

Serbia is expected to open, and also temporarily close, Chapter 26 on education and culture, for which the 28 EU member states have already given the green light.

Diplomatic sources in Brussels reiterated Monday the opening of new chapters in Serbia’s accession talks was also conditional on progress in the normalisation of the ties with Pristina, Tanjug reports.

Tanjug’s sources in the Council of the EU said the member states were already familiar with a European External Action Service report on progress in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

Representatives of the EU member states will meet in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday to establish if there is a consensus on also opening other chapters Serbia has prepared.
