BELGRADE – The situation in the EU is difficult, global politics is changing and Europe needs to be united, but that cannot be achieved without stabilisation in the Western Balkan region, in which Serbia has a central role, Volker Bouffier, Minister President of the German state of Hesse, said Tuesday, Serbian news agency Tanjug reports.
At a joint press conference after a meeting with Serbian PM Aleksandar Vučić, Bouffier said the EU was incomplete without Western Balkan countries.

We are here because Serbia is the key country of the region and that is why we want to encourage you – the government and the citizens – to continue the reform process and we will help where we can, Bouffier said.

He said he had had an open conversation with Vučić about the situation over the past two decades, noting Kosovo was a particular challenge and expressing concern over the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
