cdm logoPODGORICA – Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) welcomes the visit of the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini to Montenegro, emphasising that, apart from extraordinary contribution to developing relations between Montenegro and the EU and further progress of the country towards membership in the Union, this visit additionally cleared the internal situation in the country and showed the true face of the Montenegrin opposition, CdM reports.

“Extremely positive Mogherini’s assessment on Montenegro’s progress in the EU accession process and contribution to regional cooperation represent an additional confirmation that both our internal priorities and the foreign policy course are right. Her visit also confirmed credibility of the government and the state’s administration which works on meeting requirements within the negotiation process,” DPS stated.

The party added that Mogherini’s positive assessment was not surprising, as well as the statements of opposition leaders.

“In the absence of clear arguments, they accuse the EU of double standards and games they are playing themselves. In this way, for the umpteenth time, they show that they advocate dialogue, democratic values and membership in the EU only declaratively, but not essentially. On that basis, Demos leader Miodrag Lekic’s attempt to discredit, in a one-minute talk with Mogherini, the uncontested results visible and recognised by the whole EU, cannot be called otherwise than politicking,” DPS added.

According to them, instead of being a constructive partner of government in building a better society, the opposition used blackmail, but DPS would not comply with it.
