TANJUG_maliKOPAONIK – Serbian PM Aleksandar Vučić said Wednesday he had disagreed with Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi over an initiative to establish a Kosovo army, and noted he was expecting assistance from the EU, the US and Russia on the matter, Tanjug reports.

Vučić and Thaçi spoke on the phone late Tuesday.

Responding to reporters’ questions at the Kopaonik Business Forum, Vučić said he and Thaçi had disagreed on key issues, in particular, establishment of a Kosovo army, which he said would be a violation of UN SC Resolution 1244 and also contrary to Kosovo’s constitution.

Earlier on Tuesday, Thaçi presented to Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veselji a draft bill on transforming the Kosovo Security Force into a Kosovo army.

Vučić said he hoped Thaçi was not behind the initiative for the sake of an election campaign or votes.

“These are too big things for someone to play with,” he said.
