meta_maliSKOPJE – The obstacles for giving a mandate still exist, announced the cabinet of Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, for the state news agency MIA, Meta reports.

“President Ivanov stands firm on his position that was expressed when he addressed the nation on the 1st of March, 2017. The obstacles for granting a mandate for forming a government still exist”, said Ivanov’s cabinet.

In his address to the nation he said that he will not give the mandate for forming a government “to a person or a party that strives or in its program has a platform (the platform of the Albanian parties) for undermining the sovereignty, the territorial integrity and the independence of the Republic of Macedonia.”

In the meantime, SDSM’s leader, Zoran Zaev, and representatives of the international community i.e. the European Union, USA, member countries of EU and international organizations have called upon Ivanov to show wisdom and to change the decision.
