BELGRADE – The implementation of the action plan for Chapter 23 in Serbia’s EU accession talks is going well, with the sub-chapter on the judiciary leading the way in terms of the quality of reporting on activities implemented, unlike those on fundamental rights and the fight against corruption, says Friday Assistant Justice Minister Čedomir Backović.“There is no perfection – unfortunately there is no 100-percent implementation, but I think it is not even a specific of Serbia,” Backovic said after a session of the commission on implementation of the national strategy on judicial reform.

Some the reasons behind delays of certain activities are recent Constitutional Court decisions on the transfer of competences from the Justice Ministry to the High Court Council and the State Prosecutorial Council, which will have to wait until constitutional amendments, he said.
