TIRANA – Albania’s Integration Minister Klajda Gjosha said that the proposal of the Deputy President of the European People’s Party David McAllister should be discussed again at the table of negotiations between the ruling majority and the opposition. In an interview on Report TV, Gjosha said that the opposition should have another opportunity so that to accept the international offer and take part in the elections.

“The offer should be at the table of negotiations so that the opposition has the opportunity to discuss and accept it and go to free and fair elections monitored by all the sides. Elections without the opposition would create an even more fragile democracy than up to now”, said Gjosha.

Further on, the minister said that EU Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn letter was a proper reaction because the EU did its best for the resolve of this situation.

She added that elections without the opposition put into question the legality of the institutions because the country should have an alternative between the left and right-wing. And beyond international support, Albanian politics should carry responsibility towards the citizens, Gjosha said.
