Albanian Parliament to convene in extraordinary session on Cabinet reshuffle, Vetting and CEC

TIRANA – Albania’s Parliament is set to meet in extraordinary session on Monday afternoon to approve the Cabinet reshuffle in implementation of the electoral agreement of May 18 between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the DP leader Lulzim Basha. The DP has already forwarded nominations for technical Cabinet members, a deputy prime minister, 6 ministers and chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), ATA reports.

Likewise, during the extraordinary session on Monday, the Parliament will approve the opposition members in the Vetting committees,  it will examine and approve the legal package on electoral reform and vote on the chairman and one member of the CEC, all names proposed by the opposition.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and the chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha held a meeting on Sunday evening at the venues of the Palace of Congresses in Tirana. Rama and Basha discussed on the DP nominations for deputy prime minister, 6 technical ministers and the chairman of the CEC.

This meeting happened a day before the Assembly will convene in extraordinary session on Monday to discuss and vote on the Cabinet reshuffle, examination and approval of the legal package related with the electoral reform, approval of members of the Parliamentary minority into 3 ad hoc commissions as well as the chairman and one member of the CEC.
