BRUSSELS – Serbia is on the right track in European integration, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn said Monday, adding that he was expecting Belgrade to open new chapters in its accession talks this month and by the end of the year, Tanjug reports.
Speaking in Brussels about the Western Balkans’ progress in the European integration process, Hahn said the region’s accession to the EU was in Brussels’s interest and that progress in the region was encouraging.

Serbia and Montenegro are on the right track – Serbia has opened two chapters to date and new ones will be opened this year and this month, he said at a press conference following his visit to Serbia and Montenegro last week.

He reiterated the EU was committed to the enlargement process.

The EU strategy is simple – to give all countries in the region a perspective of EU accession, Hahn said during the visit.
