Vučić: Why we need internal dialogue on Kosovo

BELGRADE – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić says he has called upon the citizens of Serbia to embark on internal dialogue on Kosovo to avoid passing that burden to posterity and because an answer must be found jointly that will be permanent and rule out conflict as an option.

“It is time that, as a nation, we stop sticking our heads in the sand like ostriches, and try to be realistic,” Vučić wrote in an article published in Monday’s issue of Blic.

“Since 1878 and the establishment of the so-called League of Prizren, we Serbs have not wanted to be responsible enough to understand the strength and the desires of Albanians,” Vučić wrote.

On the other hand, a lack of understanding of Serbian state and national interests, and underestimation thereof, is a huge mistake the Albanians have been making, he wrote.
