SARAJEVO – Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will pursue its foreign policy in a way that will not endanger its relations with neighbours, and it will handle the issue of recognising Kosovo’s independence in the same way, BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović said on Tuesday.
“We have a clear position regarding Kosovo. The relations with Kosovo will be what we must coordinate with friends,” Čović told reporters in Sarajevo in a comment on what news agencies described as heightened rhetoric between BiH and Serbia following different interpretations of a statement by Bakir Izetbegović, the Bosniak member of the Presidency.
In an interview with Deutsche Welle on Monday, Izetbegović said he was hoping BiH would recognise Kosovo and that this should already have been done.
Čović confirmed the members of the BiH Presidency should travel to Belgrade on December 6.
