SOFIA – With this Summit, we want to show that we care about the social-economic development of the region, said the president of the European Council Donald Tusk, at today’s press conference at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, just a day before the EU-Western Balkans summit.

„Investing in infrastructural and human connections with and within the Western Balkans is in the EU’s interest and it will be the objective of this Summit. Everything we discuss today and tomorrow has the global effect,“ Tusk stressed.

“Tomorrow we will meet the Western Balkans for the first time in 15 years. This will be an opportunity to show that the European perspective for the Western Balkan countries remains valid. I hope we can bring our Western Balkan friends closer to the EU,” he said.
