[Balkanoscope]: No freedom for the LGBTQI+ community

Last week, at the annual Belgrade Pride Parade, around 2.000 people gathered in the city centre to promote human rights and rights of LGBTQI+ community in Serbia, as well as to oppose prejudices and stereotypes about it that prevail in Serbian society and in the Balkans. Apart from Serbia, many citizens across the region also participated.

Balkanoscope spoke with several activist from the region: Jovan Ulićević from Podgorica, Marija Vuletić from Sarajevo and Bekim Asani from Tetovo about the LGBT issues in their respective countries.

Balkanoscope is a joint project of the European Western Balkans and European Fund for the Balkans aimed at promoting personal stories of individuals affected by issues common to the entire region of the Balkans. It aspires to speak up for those people faced with all the issues that have been agonizing the region for decades and obstructing its European perspective. The portal is bilingual, in English and French.
