Macedonia to launch official accession talks with NATO next week

SKOPJE – Macedonia will officially kick off accession negotiations with NATO on 18 and 19 October in Brussels, MIA reprots. The country received an invitation to join the Alliance in July.

The official delegation of Macedonia’s Government to NATO headquarters will be lead by National NATO Coordinator Stevo Pendarovski.

During its yestreday’s session, the Government also decided to form a working committee that will be tasked with seeing through the negotiations.

“We are fully prepared and the working committee on Macedonia’s integration to NATO has been working for some time,” stated Government’s Spokesman Mile Bosnjakovski, MIA added.

The membership, the agency reminds, still requires full implementation of the Prespa agreement, and the Government has sent the initiative for constitutional changes to the parliament.
