BRUSSELS – European Commissioner Johannes Hahn wrote a celebration note on his Twitter regarding the Europe Day. “United in diversity: Happy Europe Day to all citizens in the EU, the Western Balkans Turkey and the European Neighbourhood!”, wrote Hahn. Across Europe, the 9th of May is celebrated as a European Union’s birthday. In 1950, on 9th of May French Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Schumann presented his declaration which is considered to be the basic document for something that would later become the European Union.
