PODGORICA – European Commission’s peer review mission will be in an official visit to Podgorica on Tuesday, the Government of Montenegro announced.

During the mission, the recommendations from the previous expert mission in the field of external borders, held in June last year, will be considered,” the official statement reads.

The Government also announced that the mission is important from the perspective of Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations, with a focus on Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom and Security, and is headed by an independent expert from Finland.

The aim of the mission is, as it is stated, an analysis of the degree of implementation of the existing Integrated Border Management Strategy.

An independent expert will exchange knowledge and best practices on the new concept of integrated border management and its implementation in national strategies during a mission with representatives of relevant authorities.

“During the mission, the recommendations from the previous expert mission in the field of external borders, held in June last year, will be examined,” the statement reads.
