EU Council will discuss enlargement again before Zagreb Summit in May 2020

BRUSSELS – The European Council will revert to the issue of enlargement before the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Zagreb in May 2020, state the conclusions released on the Council’s website today. Last night the EU leaders failed to support opening of accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania mostly due to strong opposition of France. Zagreb Summit was announced following the Sofia Summit in May 2018 and it will take place during Croatia’s EU Presidency.
