SKOPJE – VMRO-DPMNE’s Vice President Timcho Mucunski said that the new government will be formed in line with the constitutional deadlines, adding that talks still ongoing between VMRO-DPMNE, Worth It and ZNAM. He said he expects the government to be formed before the final deadline, MIA reported.

“Talks are still ongoing. As you know, the prime minister-designate, i.e. the leader of VMRO-DPMNE still hasn’t formally received the mandate, which means the constitutional deadlines would be running. What I can say at this moment is that the new government will be formed in line with the constitutional deadlines,” Mucunski said.

Regarding the distribution of posts, he said the discussion over which VMRO-DPMNE official will hold what post is a process that first needs to be discussed with the future prime minister, but also a process that is being discussed by the party’s bodies.

Mucunski said he expects the new government to be formed a little earlier than the final deadline and the mandate to be presented this week, but, he said, “this is a discussion between the prime minister-designate and the President of the country”.

According to reports received by MIA, President Siljanovska-Davkova is expected to hand the mandate for the creation of government to VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski on Thursday, after which the 20-day period for the creation of government will start to run.

On the parliamentary elections held on 9 May, the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition Your Macedonia won 43% of the votes, giving it 58 of the parliament’s 120 seats, just short of a majority.
