BRUSSELS – After the Brussels meeting of Western Balkan PMs and discussions about a new EU enlargement strategy, it is clear Serbia and Montenegro are the front runners in the enlargement process, says Serbian PM Ana Brnabić.
“Serbia and Montenegro are the only countries negotiating at this time. One of the basic topics is about Albania and Macedonia embarking on negotiations as soon as possible – hopefully in the first half of 2018. It is in the interest of the entire Balkans,” Brnabic said at the end of a working dinner hosted by EU foreign policy and security chief Federica Mogherini for the PMs of the Western Balkans Six.
When asked about an agreement on normalisation of relations with Pristina, she said Serbia had already proven it was a stable, predictable and serious partner.
“Serbia has signed the Brussels Agreement and implemented most of it,” she said.
