Christian Danielsson, Director-General of DG Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission, will pay an official visit to Montenegro on 7-8 July 2015. He had previously visited Montenegro in October 2013, as Director General of DG Enlargement.
Mr Danielsson will meet the Prime Minister, Mr Milo Djukanovic, Deputy Prime Ministers Mr Dusko Markovic and Mr Vujica Lazovic, members of the parliamentary European Integration Committee, the Supreme State Prosecutor Mr Ivica Stankovic and the Chief Negotiator Ambassador Aleksandar Pejovic. During his visit, Mr Danielsson will also meet Mr Nikola Markovic, president of the Commission for monitoring of investigations of attacks on journalists and media property.
The Director-General’s visit comes at a moment when Montenegro is marking three years since the opening of accession negotiations with the European Union. With his Montenegrin interlocutors, he will discuss the EU-Montenegro relations, the progress achieved so far, and the future challenges in Montenegro’s accession process, especially in the rule of law area.
In the context of this visit, the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro will organise a press conference on Tuesday, 7 July, at 17h30, at the EU Info Centre in Podgorica where Mr Danielsson will address the media and answer journalists’ questions.
