EU expert mission for the rule of law in Montenegro

PODGORICA – EU expert mission is visiting Montenegrin institutions of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms in the period 21-25. November 2016 .

On this occasion, experts from Slovenia will hold a series of meetings with representatives of institutions responsible for the implementation of the accession Chapter 23, namely Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and the institution of the Ombudsman. The meetings will be an opportunity for direct exchange of information on specific issues relating to the functioning and capacity of these institutions.

This visit is an opportunity to Montenegrin institutions to show the European Commission and the member states progress in this area, in relation to the recommendations made last year.

Visits of expert missions are part of a new approach in negotiations with the EU and are a regular mechanism by which the European Commission assesses progress in Chapter 23 (Judiciary and fundamental rights).
