Serbia soon to submit negotiating position for Chapter 24

BELGRADE – Serbia’s objective is to submit the negotiating position for Chapter 24 soon, Chief Negotiator with the EU Tanja Miscevic said on Friday.

In a meeting of the working group for Chapter 24 of the National Convention on the EU, Miscevic said that two weeks ago Serbia had been informed that the EU accepted the Action Plan for Chapter 24 and invited Serbia to present its negotiating position.

According to the chief negotiator, without Serbia’s input, the EU cannot formulate the joint negotiating position.

The final aim is that Serbia opens Chapters 23 and 5 by the end of the Dutch presidency, or by the end of June, she said, describing it as highly realistic.

The costs of the Action Plan for Chapter 24 stand at over EUR 27 million, with the sum to increase considerably in the following period, the participants of the meeting noted.
