Astrid Thors

SARAJEVO – Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark met today with the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Astrid Thors during her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. They discussed the many challenges regarding human rights and the protection of minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting that the legal and institutional framework for the observance of human rights required improvements and that the relevant legislation needed to be effectively implemented, particularly in anti-discrimination aspects.

Ambassador Wigemark thanked the High Commissioner Thors for the EU and OSCE co-operation in BiH, and expressed readiness to continue to support and help the country’s authorities and all other partners in their efforts to advance the respect for human rights and the status of national minorities.
