EU committed to supporting BiH in its efforts to become mine free

SARAJEVO – Eliminating the threat of mines is a crucial endeavour that advances peace, enables development and saves lives.

The European Union is strongly committed to help Bosnia and Herzegovina eliminate this threat and has provided substantial financial assistance to this cause.

Since the end of the war the EU has financed about 80 anti-mine action projects that have been implemented across the country for an overall amount of about € 55 million.

Unfortunately, BiH is still facing a very severe problem of mine contamination, and ranks among the most vulnerable countries in the world.

The EU continues supporting the demining efforts in BiH with aim to reduce the areas which are not yet considered safe, and to support the country in its efforts to become mine free.
