Macedonian political parties sign Code for Fair and Democratic elections

meta_maliSKOPJE – The political parties in Macedonia signed today the Code for Fair and Democratic elections, in accordance with the Election Code. The president of the State Election Commission (SEC), Aleksandar Čičakovski stressed out that the elections that are fair, democratic, that observe the principles of democracy and the good governance, contribute to the society’s democratic development.

“All participants in the elections with their activities are setting the fundaments of democracy and are contributing to the building of trust in the Macedonia’s electoral system”, stressed Čičakovski.

The Code was signed by the president of VMRO-DPMNE Nikola Gruevski, who is leading the coalition “For better Macedonia,” the leader of SDSM Zoran Zaev, representing the joint opposition coalition, Izet Medzeti of DUI, Menduh Tachi of DPA, Gzim Ostreni of “Alliance for the Albanians,” Ivon Veličovski of LP, Stojanče Angelov of Dostoinstvo as part of “Coalition VMRO for Macedonia,” Pavle Trajanov of the Democratic union as part of the Coalition for changes and justice – The Third Block, Bilal Kasami of Besa, Zdravko Saveski of Levica and Muhamed Halili of PDP.

The signing of the Code was also attended by the ambassadors of US, Germany, France, Great Britain as well as the EU deputy ambassador and chief of OSCE/ODHIR mission.
