The EU ambassador to Macedonia Žbogar is requesting that the parties should restrain from nationalistic rhetorics

Samuel Žbogar

meta_maliTETOVO – According to the joint remark by Democratic Union for Integration’s (DUI) chief of the election headquarters, Bekim Neziri, and the Samuel Žbogar, the EU’s ambassador, who have met yesterday at DUI’s headquarters in Mala Rečica, Tetovo region, the election campaign is occurring in a peaceful and fair atmosphere.

“His opinion is that all of the necessary conditions for authentic and fair elections are met. But, there is still time until the 11th of December and we hope that we shall continue in the same spirit-the spirit of peaceful, democratic and fair election atmosphere”, said Neziri.

Neziri said that the EU ambassador has indicated at the nationalistic rhetorics in the speeches of a group of political parties.

“You see, with each election, the rhetoric is getting more heated and there was a remark by the EU ambassador Žbogar who appealed there should be less nationalistic rhetoric i.e. there should be fewer rhetorics that, in a way, directly would have contributed to elections full of tensions that eventually would have escalated more. Frankly, we don’t expect there would be any escalation until the 11th of December”, said Neziri.

Wednesday afternoon, the EU ambassador Samuel Žbogar had a meeting with the members of Democratic Party of Albanians’s election headquarters.
