BRUSSELS – The results from the recent parliamentary elections must be respected, the current uncertainty must end and a government must be formed without further delay, said Maja Kocijančič, spokeswoman for the European Commission (EC), for Radio Free Europe, Meta reports.
“As the European Union has repeatedly stated, including the European Parliament, the results of the recent parliamentary elections must be respected, the current uncertainty must come to an end, and a government must be formed without further delay, on the basis of the local parliamentary majority”, said Kocijančič while answering RFE, to comment on the new situation in Parliament to select the Commission on Elections and Appointments.
She cited earlier statements by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, EU Commissioner, Johannes Hahn and the European Parliament, and pointed out that they have been encouraging President Gjorge Ivanov to urgently reconsider his position.
“Now, we expect all political leaders and institutions to allow the democratic process to follow its course, and that includes the election of a Parliament Speaker without further delay”, said Kocijančič.
