Saša Janković, the second-placed candidate in the latest presidential elections in Serbia, will visit Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday, Danas reports.

Janković will attend a meeting of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D), where his host will be Josef Weidenholzer. Janković will meet with the vice president of the European Parliament, Urlike Lunacek, MEP Soraya Post, and also with the members of the Cabinet of the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, as well as with Jorgen Siil, a member of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia.

Janković will use this opportunity to point out the fact that in Serbia “there is an alternative political option which authentically believes in the European values such as the rule of law, respect for human rights, the equality before the law, media freedoms and social justice,“ explained Janković.

In the interview for the portal Magločistač, he added that he knows that the international community is carefully following the situation in Serbia, but they are not sure „how much Serbian citizens are willing, serious and determined, but also ready to turn this alternative into a reality,“ writes Danas. Janković emphasised that it is up to citizens of Serbia to build democracy, and that “Aleksandar Vučić has become powerful, not by building something new, but by tearing down every alternative political option.“
