Ambassador Wigemark visits Goražde

SARAJEVO – Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark visited Goražde on 29 June 2017.On this occasion Ambassador Wigemark met with the Mayor of Gorazde, Muhamed Ramović and members of the City Council, visited the Prevent Group factories, met with the representatives of the business community, with the Women’s Association SEKA and with the youngsters from the Youth Theatre Goražde.

At the meeting with the Mayor and City Council, Ambassador Wigemark discussed their development priorities and future plans underlining that good governance starts at the local level and that Gorazde is a great example of that.

During the visit to the Prevent Company, Ambassador Wigemark had an opportunity to learn from its Director, Lejla Ferhadbegović, that this is one of the largest and the most successful private companies in BiH and the leading exporter of the automotive parts to Europe.

Ambassador Wigemark also met with the representatives of the business community at the Goražde Business Centre, which was established with the EU funding and represents an example of a good partnership initiative between the business community, government and service providers.

During the visit to SEKA Home – Centre for Education, Therapy and Recreation of women and children, Ambassador Wigemark was introduced with their amazing efforts to provide support to women and children suffering from the psychological and social consequences of the war and victims of family violence.

Ambassador concluded his visit to Gorazde with the meeting with the creative young members of Youth Theatre Goražde. He was very impressed with their work, and encouraged them to continue with their culture and youth activism through theatre and music.
