BUDVA – Prime Minister Duško Marković said that there was no dilemma in the Western Balkan region that all countries were striving towards membership in the European Union.
He also said that the responsibility for the region’s road to the EU was not in Brussels, but among the countries and leaders of the Western Balkans.
Marković believes that Montenegro will conclude the negotiation process even before 2025, when the EU announced the next enlargement.
He said that in the region of the Western Balkans in the last few years, despite all the difficulties, a significant step forward was made when it comes to the orientation of the countries of the region towards the EU, ie towards the achievement of European values.
Reminding the participants that this meeting of PMs of the region is the seventh one this year, Marković pointed out that this was precisely this one new moment of commitment and communion that gives strength and greater prospects of success on the road to the EU.
“If we stick to this principle, then Europe will not be so sceptical of us. If we do not come to Brussels with problems, but with solutions, then our perspective is quite certain,” Marković said.
The PM estimated that the platform of the Berlin Process had already yielded results through economic regional integration.
In a press statement after the panel, the PM pointed out that the EU region expected strong support in projects that were crucial for the development of the Western Balkan countries.
