SIBIU – The European Union leaders should look at the Balkans’ future within the bloc as the priority for the economic prosperity and security of the region and the EU, said EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini in Romania.
Ahead of an informal summit of EU’s 27 member states in Sibiu Mogherini, who arrived from the Brdo – Brijuni meeting in Tirana, said it was important that the European leaders gathered on the Day of Europe to show the unity and determination “to protect and continue to invest in the EU project.”
She added that she brought a special message from the Western Balkans leaders’ meeting in Tirana, who expressed great support for the EU.
“I bring you the message directly from Tirana: the support for the EU is about 90 per cent. It’s a capital we have to preserve for the future,” she said and added that the bloc should consider the EU and Balkans’ future.
Mogherini pointed out that she would talk about the bloc’s responsibility in the world with the EU leaders.
