ata_maliTIRANA – Knut Fleckenstein has started off his visit to Tirana with a meeting with US and EU ambassadors. Sources say he had an informal meeting with EU ambassador Romana Vlahutin and US ambassador Donald Lu, Albanian news agency ATA reports.

At the end of the meeting, Fleckenstein responded to the journalists about the latest developments in the country, including the opposition protest. “The protest looks calm. Each political party has its place in parliament. I will meet with Basha and discuss with him but not negotiate anything”, he said.

Afterwards, accompanied by ambassador Vlahutin, Fleckenstein headed to the govt. building to meet with PM Edi Rama.

After the meeting with Albanian PM, the EU Rapporteur on Albania said that he had a very good meeting with Rama. “I had a pretty good meeting with Rama, meanwhile I am scheduled to meet with Meta and Basha. I am not going to the opposition protest”, Knut Fleckenstein said.

The agenda of MEP proceeded with a meeting with Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta by 11:45 at the Parliament Presidency. At 15:45, Fleckenstein will meet with Minister of Integration Klajda Gjosha and the head of opposition, Lulzim Basha, thereafter, ATA’s report concludes.
