TANJUG_maliSARAJEVO – Increased cooperation and projects bringing benefits to citizens are the only way to act against tensions in the Western Balkans, says European Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Tanjug reports.
“The only way to act against tensions is through increased cooperation and joint projects leading to no one being interested in endangering what has been achieved. That is also the principle the EU was established on,” he told Tanjug in an interview following a Sarajevo meeting of Western Balkan PMs.

Through the Berlin Process, Brussels wants to emulate this idea in the Balkans and prepare the countries in the region for EU membership, Hahn explained.

He said he had initiated the Sarajevo meeting months ago.

“I believed a meeting of regional PMs in the region was an important signal. And we managed to achieve that in Sarajevo, for the first time in history,” he said.
