TIRANA – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama told a news briefing after the end of plenary session on the first round for election of the new President that the coalition SP-SMI is pushing itself to the limit to create opportunity for opposition in the hope that it will start listening to reason, ATA reports.
Rama commented on the letter of SP-SMI submitted to CEC seeking the extension of deadline for the party and coalition enrolment. He reiterated that SP is showing patience by giving a chance to DP adding that at some point the patience will run out.
We are pushing the good will to the limits to create opportunity for the official opposition, the DP, in the hope that it will start listening to reason but also give a shot to the attempt which is much likely to materialize owing to our perseverance in the letter of parliament speaker to EPP, emphasizing the dialogue which we could not reach despite our efforts. We are not worried, we will do the utmost to hold inclusive elections, however any effort reaches the end of the road and the end will be the registration of candidates and teams running in election,” Rama said.
Rama pointed out that there is no question of June 18 elections being postponed. PM also spoke about the process of President’s election, saying: No name was voted in today’s session although we have insured the necessary number of votes. It was an expression of good will by our side to make opposition part of the process.
