New round of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue to be held on Monday

TANJUG_maliBRUSSELS – The talks on the normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations will continue at the highest level in Brussels on Monday.

The delegations headed by Serbian and Kosovo Prime Ministers Aleksandar Vucic and Isa Mustafa will meet for the second time in less than a week in the office of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

A brief statement from the office of the High Representative said that Mogherini is hoping for new steps in the implementation of the Brussels Agreement, signed on April 19, 2013 with EU mediation.

It is the key condition for Serbia to open Chapter 35 on Kosovo and Chapters 23 and 24 (judiciary and fundamental rights).

The issue of forming the community of Serb municipalities was finally opened on June 23 following several hours of discussions at the highest level, during which some progress was made.

The discussions about the community of Serb municipalities are now set to resume, and the agenda also includes energy, telecommunications and the Peace Park on the bridge in central Kosovska Mitrovica, put up by the local Serb majority for protection from frequent incursions by ethnic Albanians from the southern part of the town.

As part of preparations for the dialogue at the highest level, technical discussions between expert teams began the day before.
