VIENNA – Serbia’s chief EU negotiator Tanja Miscevic believes that the opening of the first negotiation chapters in the EU accession talks is significant progress and support for Serbia, but notes that there will be no privileges in the process and that there are no easy chapters.
The second intergovernmental conference and the opening of Chapter 32 on financial control and Chapter 35 on normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina ties are the beginning of a new stage in fulfilling all post-screening obligations that need to be met for Serbia to become an EU member state, she said.
“We are not just opening two chapters, considering that, in circumstances in which there is no great interest within the EU in enlargement due to the crises and problems that it is facing, this represents major support,” Miscevic told Tanjug from Vienna.
