European officials: Real job starts for Serbia

TANJUG_maliBRUSSELS – The EU’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Monday ahead of a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council that the EU foreign ministers will call for opening the first chapters in the negotiations with Serbia.
Today, we have two important steps, the opening of chapters with Serbia and Turkey, Mogherini said in reply to Tanjug’s question.

Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn described on Monday the opening of chapters in Serbia’s EU entry negotiations as very important. In his capacity as the foreign minister of the country holding the EU presidency, Asselborn will attend the intergovernmental conference, in which the EU will open Chapter 32 on financial control and Chapter 35 dealing with the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Serbia’s accession talks.

“The opening of chapters is very important. Chapter 35, which relates to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is more difficult than Chapter 32. We will see how the process will go,” Asselborn told Tanjug ahead of a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

Serbia will open the first two chapters in its EU entry negotiations on Monday. Chapter 32 on financial control and Chapter 35 that deals with the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina will be opened at the intergovernmental conference set to begin at 7 p.m.
