PODGORICA / BELGRADE – President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić has received Angelina Eichhorst, EEAS Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, on Thursday. During her first official visit to Montenegro, Eichhorst expressed gratitude for the reception and has commended the parliamentary dialogue in Montenegrin Assembly, for achievements in the field of democracy.
It has been agreed on the meeting that political stability represents a foundation for democratic Montenegro, based on the rule of law. Creation of political stability is one of the key steps in promoting European integration of Montenegro.
Eichhorst praised Krivokapić for the achievements and said that every step of integration process is a step forward, for a better position and standard of Montenegro. Krivokapić pointed out that the Montenegrin Parliament is open for future cooperation and strenghtening of the dialogue, aimed at Montenegro’s progress on EU path.
Eichhorst has also met with members of the Commitee on European Integration of the Parliament of Montenegro. Focus of the meeting was the political situation in Montenegro, so the MPs have expressed different views of the current parliamentary dialogue and the preparation of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Commitee members were unanimous in their assessment that political dialogue should be led within the Parliament of Montenegro.
Eichhorst expressed strong support for Montenegro on its European path. She also expressed hope that the political dialogue will be successful and result in elections organized in accordance with all involved parties.
The meeting was attended by Mitja Drobnič, Head of Delegation of the EU to Montenegro, Herbert Pribitzer, from the European External Action Service, Annalisa Giansanti, Political Adviser and Barbara Rotovnik, Adviser for European Integration and rule of law.
From the Parliament of Montenegro, the meeting was attended by members of the Commitee on European Integration Marija Maja Ćatović, Predrag Sekulić, Vuk Roćen, Nada Drobnjak, Obrad Mišo Stanišić i Azra Jasavić, as well as the President of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget.
