BELGRADE – All efforts of the European Union and Serbia are directed at opening Chapters 23 and 24. If the country opens these two, other chapters could follow this year, Freek Janmaat, head of the European integration section of the EU Delegation to Serbia, said on Monday.
“If the chapters related to the rule of law are opened this year, others will follow,” he said at a conference titled “Future of Serbian Agriculture”, organised by the NIN weekly.
Janmaat said it was too early to say whether this would be possible.
Chapter 5 on public procurement and Chapter 13 on fishery are among those that could be opened after Chapters 23, 24, he underlined.
However, everything depends on the finalisation of negotiations on the opening of Chapters 23 and 24, Janmaat added.
