Hahn: Pardons allows justice to again run its course

BRUSSELS – Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, welcomes decision of President Gjorge Ivanov rescinding the pardons issued in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Commissioner Hahn has published the following statement:

The Commission notes the decision of President Ivanov to finally rescind all pardons.  This allows justice to again run its course and the Special Prosecutor to continue her important work.

Too much time has been lost by the country’s leaders over the last year.  It is more urgent than ever that they all return to the table to implement their Pržino agreement, in an inclusive manner. In particular, rapid and credible action must be taken on the Urgent Reform Priorities, to move the country back to the path of the rule of law and Euro-Atlantic integration.
