Basha-Lajcak: After judicial reform, free and fair elections’ challenge lays ahead

ata_maliTIRANA – Chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Slovakia, which currently holds the EU presidency, Miroslav Lajcak.

Lajcak congratulated Mr. Basha for his commitment with high responsibility and leadership shown in the process of reaching consensus, as a major contribution to the country and citizens. The successful implementation of the judicial reform is of great importance for the integration and the European future of Albania, according to him.

Basha considered the judicial reform process as a battle of the Democratic Party, which was from the beginning to the end in favour of its successful completion, a battle for standards and European principles of democracy, the rule of law and human rights, and praised the EU support to this process.

According to Basha, the biggest challenge lying henceforth ahead is the free and fair elections.

On his part, Lajcak assured Albanian opposition leader for his country’s commitment and support and that of EU current presidency for free and fair elections in Albania.
