Hahn starts his visit to Macedonia by meeting with acting Prime Minister Dimitriev

meta_maliSKOPJE – The European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, this morning met with the acting Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev, with whom he talked about the situation in the country after the early parliamentary elections that were held on the 11th of December last year.

The details regarding the meeting still haven’t been revealed, and Hahn has published a photograph of the meeting on his “Tweeter” account with a short description.

“I started my working day in Skopje with talks with the Prime Minister Dimitriev. What follows is a meeting with the ministers of the Western Balkans’ countries about the strengthening of the energy connectivity,” wrote Hahn.

 

The European Commissioner came to Skopje last night and today he will participate in the sixth meeting of the ministers of the countries from the Western Balkans that will be devoted to the regional cooperation in the domain of energetics.

At the meeting, apart from Hahn and the ministers of foreign affairs and the ministers of energetics from the Balkan countries, the Italian Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola will also take part in as well as the General secretary of the Council for regional cooperation, Goran Svilanovic.

At the informal meeting, there will be talks about the issues regarding the domain of regional cooperation in various segments, but a special accent will be given to joint regional challenges, economic prosperity, and mutual interconnecting, the rule of law and anti-corruption issues, all for the purpose of integration of all Balkan countries into the EU.

When the meeting with the ministers is over Hahn will have meetings with representatives of the civil sector including separate meetings with leaders of parties that have won MP seats in the Parliament.

The subject of the meetings will be the situation in Macedonia after the early parliamentary elections, the efforts for forming a government and returning the country on its Euro-Atlantic trajectory.
